EDUCATION A teacher was upset that her student was contradicting her, not cooperating, and wrote the parent a note about the problem. In the note she stated, "He consistently defies me. He contradicted me numerous times in class when I insisted that the length of one kilometer was greater than that of one mile. Every other student in class accepted my lesson without argument, but your son refused to believe what I told him, offering rebuttals that claimed I was lying to the class, and commanding other students to challenge my curriculum. He would be better off simply accepting my teachings without resistance." What's interesting about this story is how it beautifully illustrates how "authorities" make mistakes and have problems admitting them. The boy was correct, yet the teacher insisted he was wrong. After class when she realized that he was indeed correct, she still felt it necessary to find fault with the boy. This is what those who are too deeply emotionally involved in HIV/AIDS issues tend to do. HIV/RESIST Think about this teaching the next time someone tries to "educate you" on HIV/AIDS. |
